Mews is a well-built cloud PMS and I rated it accordingly, so the reasons to look elsewhere tend to be structural rather than functional. The two-year contract on the upper tiers is the one that gives most people pause, particularly when competitors in the same category bill monthly. Cost is the other: at a small property the starting figure is real money, and there are systems in this category running at a third of it. What I would not switch away from Mews for is data protection. I read the DPA before the feature list, as I do with everything, and the sub-processor position at their scale held up better than I expected. What is the best alternative to Mews?

For a mid-size independent, RoomRaccoon is the closest like-for-like and bills monthly rather than asking for two years. For a smaller or seasonal property, Amenitiz and Noovy both come in far cheaper with simpler operations to match. If you want an open API and have the technical staff to use it, Apaleo is the different answer rather than the cheaper one.

Is there a Mews alternative without a long contract?

Yes, and it's the most common reason I'm asked this. RoomRaccoon doesn't lock you into a multi-year term, and several of the smaller European systems bill monthly as standard. One piece of practical advice from a colleague's experience: whatever you move to, read the renewal and cancellation terms before you sign, not after. Monthly billing and easy exit are not the same thing.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Mews?

Several, though the honest framing is that you're buying a smaller product, not the same product for less. Amenitiz publishes tiers between €42 and €125 a month and Noovy charges €5 per room against a €95 minimum, against roughly €300 to start with Mews. Both are built for simpler operations. Run your most awkward scenario, a split-billed corporate group or a mid-stay rate change, before you decide the saving is free.
