Privacy policy

Your data, in plain English.

This is a small site run by six hoteliers. We don't have a legal department, but we do care about your privacy. Here's exactly what happens with your data.

What we collect

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address and the date you signed up. That's it. No name, no location, no device fingerprint, no browsing history.

We also collect anonymous information about how the site is used: which pages you visit, where you came from, the country your IP resolves to, and basic device details like browser and screen size. We use this to understand which reviews are useful and which aren't. We don't combine it with your email or use it to identify you.

Cookies

We use Google Analytics, which sets two cookies on your browser: _ga and one starting with _ga_. These let Google count returning visitors. They don't store your name or any information that identifies you personally.

We don't set marketing cookies, advertising cookies, or anything that tracks you across other websites.

Third-party services

We use one external service for analytics: Google Analytics. Google receives your IP address (which it anonymises before storing), the URL of the page you're on, and basic device details. Their privacy notice is at policies.google.com/privacy.

We also verify our domain with Google Search Console. Search Console doesn't observe your visit; it reports the search queries Google already associates with the site, on Google's side. No script runs in your browser, no cookie is set.

Beyond that: no CDN tracking, no social media widgets, no advertising networks, no chat widget, and no fonts loaded from third parties.

How to opt out of analytics

If you'd rather not be counted, you have a few options. Install Google's official opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, use a tracker-blocking extension like uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger, or block third-party scripts in your browser. All of these prevent Google Analytics from running on your visit.

Where your data lives

Subscriber emails are stored in a file on our server, not sent to any third-party email service or marketing platform. Analytics data sits in our Google Analytics property; nobody outside our team has access. Search Console data is held by Google.

What we do with your email

We send you an email when we publish new reviews. That's the only reason we have it. We won't sell it, share it, or use it for anything else.

Your rights

You can ask us to delete your email at any time. Just send a message to privacy@6hoteliers.com and we'll remove it. No questions, no hoops. If you're in the EU, you have the usual rights under the GDPR: access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection. We'll do our best to respond within a few days, definitely within 30.

Changes

If we ever change how we handle data (a new third-party tool, a different email provider), we'll update this page and date the change. We won't retroactively change how existing subscriber data is handled without letting you know.
