Both European, both WhatsApp-led, both around three years old, and each has exactly one feature the other cannot match. chatlyn pulls Airbnb and Booking.com messages into the same inbox as WhatsApp. That was chatlyn's alone when Anna tested it, and is not any more: Runnr has since added Booking.com, Airbnb and Expedia inboxes plus a voice agent, while keeping the PMS write-back that puts conversation summaries in front of the desk before the guest walks up.

Pricing shapes differ: chatlyn went quote-only in 2026 and now prices per room against your setup, while Runnr publishes three tiers from €100 a month plus roughly €0.75 per room in WhatsApp usage. Both have thin reporting, chatlyn's too shallow for operational decisions with rudimentary segmentation, Runnr's missing revenue attribution entirely. On the privacy claim chatlyn will not name its EU hosting provider publicly, while Runnr names a short sub-processor list that includes OpenAI and holds no security certifications. Thomas found Runnr's dashboard joyless; Anna found chatlyn's WhatsApp connection stable throughout with no dropped messages.

Calculated per room across every property in the agreement, with the per-room rate falling as the portfolio grows. You reach it through a calculator that wants your room count and PMS, or by ringing Vienna. Until 2026 this was a published flat tier grid.

chatlyn withdrew its published pricing during 2026. What our review recorded, flat tiers from around €61 a month for Light up to €311 for Advanced, is no longer on the site, and a per-property setup fee has appeared that we never had to account for. The company defends the change on its own pricing page: it says the honest answer depends on your rooms, your PMS and how implementation runs, and it would rather quote against your actual setup than publish a number most properties would have to correct. That is a better argument than most vendors bother making. It still means you cannot compare chatlyn against a rival without handing over your details first.

Charged on top of the platform fee and stated as an average across conversation volume and guest location. More useful for budgeting than the per-conversation framing we recorded.

Runnr.ai has gone further in the right direction since our review. The €100 monthly floor is unchanged, but where we recorded a single starting price there are now three named tiers with figures attached, an average WhatsApp cost of about €0.75 per room per month rather than a vague per-conversation note, and a thirty-day trial on annual plans with setup and support included. Billing is per unit, and Runnr counts rooms, beds, apartments, cottages or camping pitches, which suits properties that are not shaped like hotels. Thomas credited Runnr for publishing anything at all when most rivals would not; it now publishes more than most.
