The software on a hotel's own website that lets guests check availability and book directly, bypassing OTAs.
A booking engine is the on-site equivalent of an OTA's checkout. It pulls availability and rates from the PMS and presents a bookable interface on the hotel's own domain. A good booking engine saves the hotel the OTA commission on every direct reservation, so its conversion rate matters more than almost any other piece of hotel software.
